Irvine 03 [IPSF]
The Irvine 03 is a 1U CubeSat an education effort to teach, train, and inspire the next generation of STEM professionals, while creating opportunities for underrepresented groups in STEM-related fields.
It will include a technology demonstration of an X-ray Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) sensor and electrospray thrusters.
The primary science instrument for Irvine 03 is an X-Ray CZT 64-Pixel Sensor. The sensor will point with precision at the Crab Nebula Pulsar which is over 6,523 light years away from Earth.
It was selected in 2018 by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to be launched as part of the ELaNa program.
