Rassvet-1 [Byuro 1440]
The Russian Rassvet-1 satellites are prototypes for the Byuro-1440 (Bureau 1440) low earth orbit constellation for broadband high-speed internet access.
Contact was established to all three Rassvet-1 satellites, which had earlier been launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome. During the tests, data was communicated at a rate of around 12 Mbps with a latency of 41 ms.
After concluding the on-orbit tests, the Rassvet-1 satellites will be de-orbited, and Bureau 1440 will begin preparing for mass manufacture of such devices. Starting in 2025, they plan to launch 10-12 rockets into orbit each year, with each rocket capable of carrying approximately 15 satellites. The Russian satellite Internet service is expected to launch in 2027 and cover the country's whole area by 2035.
