NASA has selected IXPE (Imaging X-Ray Polarimetry Explorer) as the next Small Explorer mission to be launched in 2020. IXPE is to investigate how X-ray emission is produced in objects as magnetars, isolated pulsars, pulsar wind nebula, supernova remnants, microquasars, active galaxies and supermassive black holes.
