PDP

PDP [NASA]

PDP (Plasma Diagnostics Package) was a small instrument package to measure the plasma environement of the Space Shuttle orbiter.

It made its first flight on STS-3, but was not used in the free-flight mode on this mission. ON STS-51F, it was first used while grappled by the Canadarm of the orbiter for measuring the close environment, and later deployed as free flyer for measurements in larger distances. After taking measurements, it was retrieved by the Shuttle's RMS.
