SMOS [ESA]
SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) is the second Earth Explorer Opportunity Mission in ESA's Living Planet Program scheduled for launch in early 2007. Its overall objectives are to provide global observations of two crucial variables for modelling the weather and climate, Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity. It will also monitor the vegetation water content, snow cover and ice structure.
