The IGS-Optical 3, and 4 (Intelligence Gathering Satellite) are the second generation Japanese optical reconnaissance satellite. The satellites are operated by the Cabinet Satellite Information Center. The satellite serves both Japan's national defense and civil natural disaster monitoring.
IGS-Optical 3 ended operations in September 2017 after a malfunction has occurred in the power supply system.
