Falcon-9 v1.2 (Block 5) IFA (Falcon-9FT (Block 5) IFA)

Falcon-9 v1.2 (Crew Dragon DM-1)
[Nathan Barker / NASASpaceflight.com]

Falcon-9 v1.2 Block 5 IFA or Falcon-9FT Block 5 IFA or Falcon-9 Upgrade Block 5 IFA is a derivative of the orbital Falcon-9 v1.2 (Block 5) launcher for the suborbital in-flight abort (IFA) test of the Crew Dragon capsule.

This version uses a previously flown core without recovery equipment and a second stage featuring a dummy mass instead of the engine, but otherwise is identical to the standard version.

The rocket will be used to test the escape system of the Crew Dragon capsule in flight during the most demanding escape scenario under maximum aeodynamic pressure. The rocket will be destroyed by aerodynamic forces after the capsule has fired the escape system.
