Yaogan 36-01C is a Chinese military satellite of unknown purpose. A two different satellites, Yaogan 36-01A and Yaogan 36-01B, were also launched together with it.
The satellites of this triplet launch were of different designs: Yaogan 36-01A and Yaogan 36-01B were built by DFH Satellite (Beijing) and Yaogan 36-01C was built by SAST (Shanghai). The purpose of these satellites is not yet known. It has be speculated that Yaogan 36-01A and Yaogan 36-01B might be imaging satellites and Yaogan 35C might be a radar satellite. SIGINT / ELINT or communications missions have also been speculated.
It is unknown, if and how the Yaogan 36 triplets differ from the Yaogan 35 and Yaogan 39 triplets.
