SAOCOM-CS

SAOCOM-CS (SSTL design) [SSTL]

The joint Argentinean and ESA SAOCOM-CS (SAR Observation & Communications Satellite - Companion Satellite) satellite was to be a passive L-Band SAR mission to be launched and flown together with the Argentenian SAOCOM 1B L-Band SAR satellite.

SAOCOM-CS was to be a receive-only satellite to be launched with Argentina's L-band SAR satellite SAOCOM. The two satellites would fly in formation, with SAOCOM acting as an illuminator, enabling for the first time single-pass SAR interferometry at L-band.

In order to be ready for launch with SAOCOM-1B, the companion satellite was to be built from components with high technology readiness. Two plattforms were concurenntly evaluated. QinetiQ Space designed a Proba-based Platform option and SSTL designed a SSTL-300P-based Platform option.

SAOCOM-CS was cancelled.
