Nusantara 5 [Boeing]
Nusantara 5 or Nusantara Lima, is an Indonesian geostationary HTS (high throughput satellite) communications satellite built by Boeing.
The satellite was built on Boeing's BSS-702MP bus, likely the modified cancelled GiSAT 1 satellite. It has a capacity exceeding 160 Gbps, which will provide primary service in Indonesia and some ASEAN countries. The spacecraft will complement the SATRIA-1 satellite and provide back-up for it in case the main satellite were to experience an outage or fail to meet capacity.
In October 2023 the operator announced, the decision to terminate the HBS contract became necessary due to limited financial resources in completing the national digital inclusion target.
