MEP 1, 2, 3

MEP 1 [Northrop Grumman]

The MRV is an experimental satellite servicing vehicle developed for DARPA's RSGS (Robotic Servicing of Geosynchronous Satellites) program.

The first attempt of the RSGS program was the SIS Servicing Vehicle to be devloped by SSL and Space Infrastructure Services LLC (SIS). SSL’s parent company Maxar Technologies bowed out of the partnership for financial reasons.

The satellite is jointly developed by Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems (NGIS) and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory's (NRL). The vehicle is based on Northrop Grumman's MEV (Mission Extension Vehicle), which carries NRL's robotics payload, which consists of two dexterous robotic manipulator arms, along with several tools and sensors.
