The IPN 1 is a vehicle evaluation payload for the maiden Angara-A5 Persei launch, representing a mass model of a geostationary satellite.

The dummy payload will placed into a near geostationary orbit by the Persei (Blok-DM-03) upper stage, to which it stayed intentionally attached.

Due to the dailure of the Persei stage to reignite on the second burn, th dummy payload was stranded in low earth orbit.
