HYPSO 2

HYPSO 2 [NanoAvionics]

The Norvegian HYPSO 2 (Hyper-spectral Satellite for ocean observation 2) is a 6U CubeSat mission by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Electronics and Telecommunication featuring an hHyperspectral imager to monitor algal blooms and other biological activity in the ocean.

On HYPSO-2 the payload consists of a hyperspectral imager and one RGB imageras well as a software-defined-radio (SDR) for communication purposes. The goal is to observe ocean color and detect harmful algal blooms (HABs). HYPSO-2 will fly an upgraded version of the HYPSO 1 hyperspectral camera. The SDR will be used to continue a series of on-orbit interference measurements as well as serve as a platform for experimental communications for Arctic purposes. The satellite is built by NanoAvionics.
