GapSat 1 is a small geostionary communications satellite owned by British Virgin Islands-based GapSat to provide interim communications solutions.
GapSat has contracted with Terran Orbital to build a small geostationary satellite with an electric propulsion system. It will feature a highly flexible, reconfigurable multi-band payload systemproviding wideband solutions in C-, Ku-, Ka-, Q/V-bands.
GapSat 1 will be injected directly into the geosynchronous orbit after its launch scheduled for the third quarter of 2020.
