GapSat 1 was a small geostionary communications satellite project by British Virgin Islands-based GapSat to provide interim communications solutions.
GapSat has contracted with Terran Orbital to build a small geostationary satellite with an electric propulsion system. It was to feature a highly flexible, reconfigurable multi-band payload systemproviding wideband solutions in C-, Ku-, Ka-, Q/V-bands.
GapSat 1 was to be injected directly into the geosynchronous orbit after its launch scheduled for the third quarter of 2020.
This project has been put on hold and cancelled during the COVID19 pandemic.
