Apco 1 ? [Astranis]
Apco 1 and 2 are small geostationary Ka-band high-througput communications satellite (HTS) built by Astranis for Apco Networks to deliver critical connectivity for 4G cellular backhaul and enterprise services across Mexico and part of Central America.
At one meter cubed and under 400 kg, the Astranis MicroGEO satellites can be built in months, not years. The 400 kg satellites will use electric propulsion to reach geostationary orbit.
The satellites are High Throughput Satellites (HTS) featuring a reconfigurable software-defined Ka-band payload.
Apco 1 and 2 were contracted in March 2023.
