Amazonas 4B

Amazonas 4B is spanish high-power communications satellite, which will carry a yet to be determined payload with coverage of South America, from Venezuela and Colombia in the north, to Argentina and Chile in the south.

The Amazonas 4B is built by Orbital on either the GeoStar-2 bus or the new GeoStar-3 bus.

The contract for Amazonas 4A and the higher power Amazonas 4B was signed in June 2012 with launch of Amazonas 4B scheduled for 2015. It is unclear, if the contract was firm.

The contract for Amazonas 4B was finally cancelled in the wake of the power problems of Amazonas 4A. It was replaced by Amazonas 5.
