Kayser-Threde: Blackbird-350

Temisat [Kayser Threde]

The satellite of the type BLACKBIRD 350 has already been introduced in 1993 by Kayser-Threde onto the then developing market. The first application of this satellite bus was TEMISAT (size: 35x35x35 cm; mass: 42 kg). Kayser-Threde succeeded in developing, building, testing and launching this micro-communications satellite within a record breaking period of not even 12 months. The satellite was launched piggy-back with a Tsiklon carrier from Russia's space port Plesetsk. The commercial launch of a Western satellite on a Russian carrier was itself unprecedented.
