Hwasong-17 ICBM |
The North Korean Hwasong-17 is a large liquid fueled ICBM.
The Hwasong-17 is apparently a two stage missile and features a quadruple chamber engine on the first stage - likely two twin-chamber engines derived from the Russian RD-250. It is a road-mobile system with a very large TEL vehicle. Based on the observed lofted trajectories of the test flights, a range of more than 15000 km has been estimated.
The missile was shown first in October 2020 on a military parade. A first flight took place in 2022.
