ARSAT 3

ARSAT-3, is an Argentine comsat project and is slated to enter service in 2019, and will be positioned at 81 degrees West.

The satellite was to be built by INVAP as prime contractor, using the ARSAT-3K bus. The communication payload, consisting of 12 Ku-band and 8 Ka-band operative transponders, was to be supplied by Thales Alenia Space. A launch date of 2019 was envisaged.

The design and manufacture of the ARSAT-3 had begun in 2015. In 2016, the work was halted, since ARSAT 2 had only a 30% utilization contracted, so the self financing of ARSAT 3 became doubtful. The satellite project was revived in 2020 as the completely redesigned ARSAT-SG 1 high-throughput satellite (HTS).
