Following failures of the 7000 model have occured:

  • Intelsat 804: 15. January 2005 - major power system anomaly - total loss
  • Telstar 401: 1997 - Electric discharge during geomagnetic storm - total loss
  • Telstar 402: 1994 - Propulsion system explosion during GTO transfer - total loss
  • Telstar 402R: 2003 - Short circuit in primary power bus - total failure
