Ares-1-X [NASA]
The Ares-1-X was a development rocket for the Ares-1 crew launch vehicle.
It was made up of a single Space Shuttle four-segment solid rocket booster with an additional inert segment to stretch the stage to the dimensions of the five-segment SRB. The first stage was topped by a mock-up simulating the second stage, the Orion and the escape rocket.
